Have you ever been fired?
How many times? Once? Twice? Three Times?
I was fired four separate times. Imagine facing your family with that news…four times. I only wish I had a road map back then. Two times I was out of a job for over six months. I delivered USA Today newspapers in the wee hours of the morning. I’m not exactly sure how I got through those situations. Many lessons learned, though.
Where are the challenges you are facing in your life? Have you been fired? Is there too much drama in your workplace or personal life? Does your workplace lack meaningful engagement? Are there too many difficult relationships in your life?
At the center of any successful workplace is true leadership. I’ve often seen it be the case, though, that many people believe leadership stems from a title or years of service. A title is a description of what you do and is not an indicator of strong leadership. Even managing individuals does not identify a true leader. Leadership is all about culture.
Leadership starts from the inside out. The workplace also develops from the inside out with quality leadership. Put Your Oxygen Mask On First. Just like they tell you on an airplane in an emergency, you shouldn’t help others until you’ve helped yourself.
